The 30 Rock actor apologized to himself on Saturday Night Live.

Baldwin was kicked off an American Airlines flight last Tuesday for refusing to turn off his cell phone while playing the game Words With Friends.

The actor appeared on the program’s Weekend Update with Seth Meyers, acting as the pilot of the plane which he was kicked off.

“I am ashamed at the way he was treated. I mean, what harm would it do to let him keep playing his game…not just any game mind you but a word game for smart people,” he said in character.

Throughout the apology, Meyers kept whispering to Baldwin, “Alec, are you sure this is the right way to handle this?” To which Baldwin replied, “Yeah, keep going.”

The actor referred to himself as an “American treasure” who was playing “a word game for smart people.”
