Actress Lisa Edelstein said in a recent statement that she is leaving the medical drama House MD.
Lisa Edelstein, aka Dr. Lisa Cuddy, will be absent from the eighth season starting in September on the U.S. television network FOX.
“After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead,” Edelstein said in a statement.
After seven seasons as dean of medicine and hospital administrator Dr. Lisa Cuddy, Edelstein has chosen not to renew her contract for another year.
Unlike her co-stars Robert Sean Leonard (Dr. Wilson) and Omar Epps (Eric Foreman), the actress refused the wage reduction proposed by Universal Media Studio.
Lisa Edelstein appears for the last time in the series on May 23, the date marking the end of the seventh season in the United States. Her departure follows that of Jennifer Morrison (Allison Cameron) and recurring disappearances of Olivia Wilde (No. 13) in 2010.
