Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet welcome baby boy Marcel

Actress Marion Cotillard and French actor-director boyfriend Guillaume Canet are parents of baby boy Marcel, presumably in homage to Marcel Cerdan, the great love of Edith Piaf, a character played by the 35-year-old actress in La Vie en Rose by Olivier Dahan.

“Mother and baby are fine,” a source told People, adding that Cotillard is “very happy.”

The great news justified Cotillard’s absence at Cannes this week. In other circumstances, the actress could have been present at the premiere of Woody Allen’s latest film, Midnight in Paris, which opened the Cannes Festival, in which she has a role.

Canet and Cotillard met while shooting the film “Love me if you dare”, released in theaters in 2003. They began dating in 2007.

Although Cotillard was spotted wearing a ring recently, she isn’t engaged.

“They haven’t disclosed any plans concerning marriage,” a source told People.
