Wesley Snipes is serving time for tax evasion

Wesley Snipes, who starred in about forty films, was convicted in 2008 of failing to declare his income from 1999 to 2004 and thus avoided paying more than $ 15 million in taxes. He was however acquitted of the charges.
 
The actor had appealed his conviction and has been trying since then to get a new trial. But Judge William Terrell Hodges said “The defendant Snipes had a fair trial … The time has come for the judgment to be enforced.”

Meachum told the Orlando Sentinel the ruling was shocking.

“Wesley is very disappointed but staying strong and positive,” the newspaper quoted Meachum as saying.

Wesley Snipes appeared in “White Men Can’t Jump” “Jungle Fever” directed by Spike Lee, “Rising Sun” alongside Sean Connery, “Demolition Man” with Sylvester Stallone and “”Mo’ Better Blues”. He also played and produced a trilogy of martial arts films “Blade”.
 
This isn’t Snipes’ first encounter with the law. In 2007 he was ordered to pay $ 1.7 million to his former agent, who had argued a breach of contract
