George and Cindy Anthony’s highly anticipated interview aired on CBS Tuesday night.

In the sit-down, Casey’s mother Cindy advanced the theory that her daughter had suffered several seizures between 2006 and 2008.

She claims that this may be a symptom of a condition that could have led to the lies Casey Anthony told at the time.

“I’m not making justification for (Casey’s lies), but there’s a cause for that… You just don’t have a grand mal seizure,” Cindy said. “I’m not making excuses for her. I want to find out what’s wrong with Casey. I know that there’s something wrong.”

She also suggests Casey may have suffered from a brain tumor or post-partum schizophrenia.

Dr Phil also quizzed the Anthonys as to whether they became suspicious during that time.

“There’s hindsight yes, but not in those 31 days,” Cindy said. “I knew what I know now I would have called the Army, the Navy, anybody.”

However, Dr. Phil believes that Cindy Anthony is refusing to accept reality, having previously referred to her as “very much in denial.”

“I think it’s denial of the highest order,” McGraw told Today’s Matt Lauer on Tuesday. “It’s like, ‘I’m going to find some reason to say this was involuntary on (Casey’s) part, whatever it is she did.’”

As for Casey’s father George, he seemed to be less defensive of his daughter’s actions.

Asked whether they believe that Casey was involved in the infant’s death, he replied: “Well, the last one I saw Caylee with was Casey. To me, in my mind, that one and one adds up to two. She’s responsible for Caylee – that’s her daughter.”

When Dr Phil insisted on what he meant by “two”, George said, “Casey and Caylee, when I saw them leave on June 16, 2008 , [that] was the last time I saw them together. And Casey, again, is responsible for Caylee no matter where she was at or what happened.”

The second part of the interview is set to air Wednesday night.
