Casey Anthony, the most hated mother in the U.S., was released from prison on Sunday, but faces serious threats.
The 25-year-old woman was released from jail shortly after midnight. She was accompanied by her lawyer, Jose Baez, and left the scene aboard a SUV. The place where she is at the moment is unknown.
A hundred protesters were in the parking lot of the prison, some of them shouting slogans of hate. More than a dozen reporters from TV channels were already outside the jail at noon Saturday.
According to sources, Anthony boarded a plane at the Orlando Executive Airport at about 3:00 a.m. on Sunday. Unconfirmed rumors say the plane landed in Arizona.
In response to the numerous threats Casey has received, as well as the general negative reaction to the verdict, her lawyer, Jose Baez, advised American citizens to start “respecting the jury verdict and decisions that the juries make” during an interview with Fox News.
“Pundits and media personalities have no right to try to alter the life of any individual because of what they think may or may not have happened,” he said.
Baez explained that his client has “certain rights as an individual in this country.”
“If she decides she wants to speak publicly, she’ll make that decision,” he commented.
Casey Anthony was found not guilty of murdering her two-year-old daughter Caylee. However, she was convicted on four counts of lying to police during the investigation.
Anthony was released on Sunday as she has already spent nearly three years in prison and her behavior had been exemplary.
Her trial received extensive media attention and was broadcast by several TV channels.
