Karina Smirnoff, the “Dancing With The Stars” pro, got engaged to her boyfriend, baseball pitcher Brad Penny.
The 32-year-old star announced the engagement and showed off her 4.5 carat diamond ring on Saturday, at the fifth anniversary party for TAO in Las Vegas, saying “I’m marrying a Southern gentleman.”
She also revealed that Penny proposed on one knee at a restaurant in October and that they’ve been engaged since October 4.
“We kept it quiet because my family is in New York and Brad’s family is in Oklahoma so we kind of wanted them to come out and celebrate and be a family first before we let the cat out of the bag,” Smirnoff told People.
Smirnoff met Mario Lopez during Season 3 of DWTS and started dating him. After two years, the couple called it quits.
Later, Smirnoff began dating fellow professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy who proposed to Smirnoff in 2008 on New Year’s Eve. However, by September, 2009, the couple announced that they were splitting.
Smirnoff and Penny began seeing each other in October of last year, after meeting through a mutual friend, UFC’s Chuck Liddell.
