A forum user reportedly posted a death threat against the CBS host on a radical Islamic website.

CBS

The website SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors and translates the online activity of terrorist groups, has intercepted a message that appeals to the murder of David Letterman because he mocked the death of the leader of Al Qaeda, Ilyas Kashmiri, killed by the US forces in Pakistan last June.

“He showed his evil nature and deep hatred for Islam and Muslims, and said that Ilyas Kashmiri was killed and he joined bin Laden,” the user, who identified himself by the name Umar al-Basrawi, wrote online.

“We ask Allah to paralyze his tongue and grant the sincere monotheists his neck.”

The post includes a call to “cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever,” referring to El Sayyid Nosair, who was convicted of killing the founder of the Jewish Defense League, Meir Kahane in 1990. David Letterman is not Jewish.

The FBI is reportedly considering the matter, the spokesman for the New York office of the federal agency Jim Margolin said.

Neither CBS nor David Letterman wanted to comment on the threat.

Other comedians who have been targeted by radical Islamists include South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Russell Brand, Sacha Baron Cohen, Alexei Sayle, Kevin Smith and Ricky Gervais.
