Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, aged 84 and twice divorced, will marry a third time.
The lucky lady is Crystal Harris, 60 years his junior. She received her engagement ring this Friday, on Christmas Eve, according to the owner of the famous magazine.
It was on his Twitter page that we could find out the happy news. First, the 84-year-old posted: “After the movie tonight, Crystal & I exchanged gifts. I gave Crystal a ring. A truly memorable Christmas Eve,” adding, “When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears. This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory.”
And if anybody had reservations about the symbolism of the ring, the lady-killer finally told his fans and friends: “Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring. I didn’t mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all.”
Regarding the age difference between the two, Harris had commented in a previous interview with News of the World: “A lot of people talk about the age difference between Hef and I, but I don’t see the age difference at all. If anything, I feel like I’m the adult and Hef’s the kid,” she said. Harris also insisted: “I would say that I’m not after Hef for his money. I have my own career going.” Also during the interview, she said living with Hefner at the Mansion “amazing.”
Crystal Harris and Hugh Hefner met in 2008 at a Halloween party. At the time, the young woman, who was studying at the University of San Diego, had been spotted by Playboy. In an October issue of that year, she appeared under the name Crystal Carter in the “Co-Ed of the Week” column, whose aim was to present young female students wearing very few clothes. And in January 2009 the romance between the sultry blonde and the magnate began.
When Holly Madison – Hefner’s former girlfriend – left the residence, Crystal quickly moved in at the mansion, joining the twins Kristina and Karissa Shannon. December 2009 was the month of recognition for this 23-year-old young woman, who distinguished herself as Playmate of the Month. Coming from a family of artists, she signed a recording contract with the label Organica Music Group in March 2010.
From his first marriage with Mildred Williams in 1949, Hefner has two children, Christie and David. His first wife – accused of having an affair – had allowed her husband to have extramarital relations. But that did not save their marriage, which ended in 1959. And the man became the insatiable seducer that we now know.
Since then, he has enjoyed the company of his magazine’s finest young women: Donna Michelle, Marilyn Cole, Lillian Muller, Shannon Tweed, Brande Roderick, Barbi Benton, Karen Christy, Sondra Theodore, Carrie-Leigh and has even confessed to having experimented with bisexuality.
Yet in 1989, he married Kimberly Conrad and the couple has two sons, Marston Glenn, 20, and Cooper Bradford, 19. Ten years later the marriage is faltering and the famous Mansion starts welcoming a parade of attractive young women.
After the success of the reality show “The Girl Next Door” featuring the Playmates, the girls left their mentor’s beautiful home. Hefner was then accompanied in his home by the Shannon twins and his future wife.
The businessman is also a staunch advocate of sexual freedom and civil rights.
