“Bachelorette” contestant Julien Hug’s parents have released a statement confirming that their son committed suicide.
Julien’s body was found off a highway in the Southern California desert on Wednesday.
His parents revealed that Julien wrote them a letter in which he told them “that he was suffering from acute depression and he felt it was his only way out. While publicly outgoing he was an extremely private person who internalized everything.” His father added that “planned this,”
“He left a letter for me, his mom, co-workers, his girlfriend at the time. He wanted us to know it was his only way out.”
“Our son meant the world to us and this came as a complete shock,” his parents say. “We are beyond devastated and completely distraught. … What we saw was his thirst for life with fast cars, motorcycles and his love of skydiving.”
A public funeral is planned for next Friday, November 12, and all are welcome, his father said.
