Lady Gaga and Iggy Pop will sing in memory of John Lennon on October 9, in Los Angeles

Lady Gaga and Iggy Pop are among the artists who will participate in the concert held in Los Angeles in memory of John Lennon on October 9, the day the British artist would have turned 70 years, informs contactmusic.com.

Yoko Ono, Lennon’s widow, organizes two concerts on October 9, in Los Angeles and Reykjavik in memory of her former husband.

At the Los Angeles concert will participate Japanese band Plastic Ono Band, Sean Lennon, son of Yoko and John Lennon, but also a number of notable artists such as Lady Gaga, Iggy Pop, hip-hop producer RZA, Perry Farrell – Jane’s Addiction frontman and two members of the group Sonic Youth – Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore.

“The fact that this year we celebrate the 70th anniversary of John is a very special event for us all. Together we will celebrate the memory of John, who sent us so much positive energy during his life, but after his death also “said Yoko Ono.

Yoko Ono will host also on October 9th, the annual ceremony of lighting the front of the Imagine Peace Tower on the Vioey island near Iceland. The ceremony can be watch live online for free www.imaginepeace.com site.

After the ceremony, Yoko Ono will present the LennonOno Grant for Peace, a biannual distinction, and she will perform on this island a concert with her son Sean Lennon.

In late June, EMI announced they will celebrate the 70th anniversary of John Lennon through the launch of all the musician’s solo albums in remastered versions with the help of digital techniques.

John Lennon was shot and died on December 8, 1980, in front of his home in New York while returning home along with Yoko Ono, after a recording session.
