Chris Medina impressed the jury and the public on Monday night’s audition episode of “American Idol,” as he recounted the tragic story of his fiancée.
Juliana, Medina’s fiancée, was in an accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury two months before their wedding.
On the day they were supposed to get married, Chris posted a song he wrote for his love on Facebook.
“I’m giving all I’ve got to give/To Pull You through/To set you free/More than the vow/‘Through thick and thin’/I’m living it/In your darkest hour, I will be your light,” were some of the lyrics.
“Everything changed,” Medina said. “We’re still not married.”
After performing “Break Even,” Medina brought Juliana in a wheelchair into the studio, where all three judges greeted her and gave Medina the big news: he’s going to Hollywood.
“I just heard your fiancé sing,” Steven Tyler told Juliana. “He sings to you all the time. I could tell. That’s why he sings so good because he sings to you.”
