Mitch Winehouse thinks his daughter died after suffering a seizure related to alcohol detoxification.

At a taping of the show Anderson , hosted by CNN journalist Anderson Cooper, Winehouse’s father revealed that a drug called Librium was found in her blood. This medicine helps to treat anxiety disorders and fight alcohol addiction.

“The periods of abstinence were becoming longer, and the periods of drinking were becoming shorter. It was heading in the right direction,” Mitch revealed.

“Everything Amy did, she did to excess,” he said. “She drank to excess and did detox to excess.”

During the interview, Mitch also insisted on the fact that no illegal drugs were found in her system at the time of her death.

The final cause of death will be determined after a full inquest into her death will begin next month.
