Amy Winehouse died alone in her bed. The artist’s lifeless body was found after several hours by one of her security guards.
“Amy was on her own at home apart from a security guard who we had appointed to help look after her over the past couple of years,” Chris Goodman, Winehouse’s friend and press agent said.
“She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep and when he went to wake her he found she wasn’t breathing.”
“He called the emergency services straight away. He was very shocked. At this stage no one knows how she died. She died alone in bed,” he added.
Recent reports speculated that the singer died due to an overdose.A source cited by The People said that the singer had been seen buying substances, believed to be cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and ketamine in the hours before her death.
However, Amy’s family said the reports were “nonsense”. Police sources have confirmed that there were no signs of drugs in her London house.
In addition, on Friday night Amy reportedly played a drum kit she had recently moved into her bedroom and the noise was so loud her neighbors complained.
The Sun claims that a doctor employed by the singer’s label said she was perfectly healthy after a routine medical examination, which took place Friday.
Winehouse was also suffering from emphysema, a disease that leads to shortness of breathing.
Paramedics suspect she might have been dead for “several hours at least.” She is known to have been alive at 10 am, when she spoke to her security guard who was in the house and who eventually found her death.
A source told The Sun: “Rigor mortis had set in indicating she is likely to have been dead for anything up to six hours.”
On Saturday, a cameraman captured the exact moment when Amy Winehouse’s body was taken out of her house and driven to the morgue.
The cause of death has not yet been identified. The police are waiting for the results of toxicology tests which might last for weeks.
