Amy Winehouse’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil “beyond inconsolable”

Blake Fielder-Civil, Amy Winehouse’s former husband said he could never be consoled over the tragic loss.

According to The Sun, Fielder-Civil, who is currently in prison serving 32 months for burglary and a firearm offence, collapsed when prison officials announced him of his former wife’s death.

Blake Fielder-Civil, 29, said Amy Winehouse was his soul mate.

“I will never ever again feel the love I felt for her,” he said. “Everybody who knew me and knew Amy knew the depth of our love. I can’t believe she’s dead.”

A few weeks ago, Amy Winehouse told close friend that Blake Fielder-Civil was the only person who could save her.

Winhouse and Fielder-Civil married in 2007 and divorced two years later. Fielder-Civil is now engaged to Sarah Aspin, with whom he has a son, Jack.

Upon finding out about her death, he called his fiancée but she said he was inconsolable.

Sarah, who turned 33 on the day Winehouse died, said that Blake regretted not being able to save her.

“He is devastated and shattered,” Sarah said, struggling with tears. “He just can’t take it in that she’s dead and he’ll never see her again.

“Blake is the father of our son. But I saw him and Amy together and I know they were really in love and they were soulmates. Basically they couldn’t live with each other and they could not live without each other. It is hard for me knowing he still loved her, but I do understand his feelings.”

She added: “I think Amy could not get over the fact that Blake and I had had our son Jack. I think it hit her pretty hard. She would have made a fantastic mum, though, despite all her problems. What’s happened is so tragic – an absolute waste.”

Sarah also revealed that Amy had been trying to get in contact with her ex. Last week she told Amy to “keep her hands off” Blake. “He is mine and we are a family now,” she said.

According to The Sun, Amy secluded herself in her London home for six days earlier this month, drinking, searching through old phone books and Facebook.

A source cited by the British tabloid said: “Amy sent texts and messaged old friends and musicians to see how they were – a lot of them she hadn’t spoken to in years. Looking back at it now, it was like she was preparing for something to happen to her.”

“She was lonely, so maybe she just wanted to get in touch with familiar faces, but it’s something she hadn’t worried about before,” the source added.
