American soul music singer Aretha Franklin said Thursday that she is canceling all of her concerts that were scheduled until next spring, on doctors’ recommendations.

Aretha Franklin, aged 68 years and dubbed “The Queen of Soul”, has canceled all concerts and public appearances “at the insistence of” doctors, until May 2011, the artist’s press agent said.

This announcement was made just days after the famous American artist was seen leaving a hospital in Detroit on October 30, where she had been hospitalized for unknown reasons.

“The award winning songstress sends her sincerest apologies to her loyal followers and colleagues for the canceled shows,” the statement read.

“Ms. Franklin is resting comfortably at home, but is very anxious to get back on the road to perform for her countless fans around the world,” it added.

Among the canceled concerts there is a show, initially scheduled for December, in Detroit, where the diva was supposed to perform alongside the former member of the Temptations band, Dennis Edwards, with whom she had been engaged in her youth.

In August, Aretha Franklin canceled two shows that she was to perform in New York, after falling at her house and fracturing two ribs.
