The Black Eyed Peas were chosen to perform at the 45th edition of the Super Bowl taking place at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas on February 6 next year.
It’s the National Football League (NFL) who made the announcement on Thursday during the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Saints in New Orleans on the U.S. network Fox.
The Black Eyed Peas add their name to the prestigious list of artists who have taken part in the Super Bowl over the years including The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Prince, U2 and Bruce Springsteen, to name a few. In 2004, Janet Jackson had created quite a stir by exposing her breast during her performance with Justin Timberlake.
Last year, the band The Who performed and was watched by more than 153 million Americans, breaking records.
This 45th edition of the most popular sporting event of the year will take place in the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium, which seats 80,000 people. Its construction has required an investment of over one billion dollars.
On November 27, 2005, the Black Eyed Peas had been commissioned to entertain Canadian football fans during the festivities of the 93rd edition of the Grey Cup in Vancouver.
