Bret Michaels finally pops the question to Kristi Gibson
Bret Michaels and Kristin Gibson, his on-off girlfriend for 16 years, are engaged. The rocker asked her to marry him during his VH1 reality show, “Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It”.
On Monday night, during the grand finale of the reality show broadcast on VH1, the singer popped the question to Gibson.
Michaels got down on one knee and told her: “I love you, and you’ve been unbelievably a big part of my life, and we have two beautiful girls together. … I know we love and respect each other, and I hope that we can find that inner love that we have forever. And I want you to be my wife.”
In the end, he added, “Please say yes, or the rejection will kill me right now.”
Immediately after the happy event, they took the road home and announced the news to their daughters Raine, 10, and Jorja, 5, Michaels tells People.
“I did it! We’ll all be together forever! Family hug!” Michaels told his kids.
In April, Michaels suffered a brain hemorrhage that nearly cost him his life. Gibson has been by his side throughout the healing process. “Kristi – she’s the one who put up with me all these years,” Bret confessed.
