Britney Spears and Jason Trawick got engaged

Spears took to Twitter early Friday and posted a mysterious message for her fans.

“OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for,” she wrote. “Can’t wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo”

“Yes, we are engaged,” Trawick later confirmed to Access Hollywood, adding that he is “over the moon, as [is] she.”

Trawick popped the question on Thursday night, while celebrating his 40th birthday on a romantic private dinner.

“This is something they’ve both wanted for a long time,” a source told Us magazine. “It’s a way to cement their family. They’re both extremely happy and can’t wait to become man and wife.”

The couple recently moved into a 10,000 square-foot estate outside Los Angeles and they are reportedly going to celebrate their engagement at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas on Friday night.

The singer met Trawick in 2006, but it wasn’t until 2009 that the two began dating. The pop star has two sons, Preston, 6, and Jayden, 5, with ex-husband Kevin Federline, whom she divorced in 2006.
