Louis Walsh claims Simon Cowell approached Britney Spears in a bid to sign her as a judge for ‘X Factor’ USA.
The ‘X Factor’ judge revealed that Cowell is negotiating with Britney about joining the show.
He said: “I was out with Simon Cowell during the week, he’s in London. You know like you do and I know he is talking to Britney. He’s definitely talking to Britney to do his American show. Absolutely true!”
As for the line-up of the UK panel for the next series, Walsh said that he expects Take That singer Gary Barlow, N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos and himself to return, but that he is unsure about former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland.
He said: “I don’t know. OK, I think I’ll be back, I think Gary will be back. I think Tulisa will be back. Dermot’s definitely back. I’m not sure about Kelly. I’m not sure. No one is contracted guys. I loved Nicole Scherzinger.”
Recently, Cowell discussed the rumors about Spears’ becoming a judge on Billy Bush’s radio show.
“Well, I’m fascinated by her. The fact that she’s still one of the most talked-about — not just pop stars, but people — in the world today means that you’ve got this star power. This girl’s got resilience, and the fact that she’s survived this and she’s still hot, she’s still having hit records and she’s still controversial … there’s a reason for that,” he said.
“I would think that if she’s managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, this is a walk in the park,” he added, noting that he believes she would be a good judge,” the media mogul added.
Janet Jackson was recently rumored to be a possible judge on the future season. However, the singer has denied the rumors, telling TheInsider.com, “[I am]very flattered that “X Factor” let me know that I was being considered for next season, but it just wouldn’t be possible.”
