Following the death of Amy Winehouse yesterday, July 23, at her London residence, messages of condolence kept pouring from people who have known the singer, as well as from fellow celebrities.

A spokesman for the soul singer said: “Everyone involved with Amy is shocked and devastated. Our thoughts are with her family and friends. The family will issue a statement when ready.”

The singer’s management Metropolis Music released a statement that reads: “We are trying to come to terms with the death of a dear friend and colleague, the most amazing artist and talent.”

“We will always remember Amy as a vibrant, funny, caring young woman who made everyone around her feel welcome. We have lost a very special person, part of our family.”

One of Winehouse’s neighbors in Camden Square told the Daily Mail that the singer seemed “normal” two weeks ago when he saw her.

“I’d see her occasionally, wandering around. She didn’t go out much really. I didn’t hear the noises on Friday night, although I was in. I didn’t realize anything had happened until the ambulances and police turned up, and I saw two women outside who were very, very upset.”

Another neighbor said she had seen Amy around six months ago looking “happy and healthy”.

Fans have flocked to her London home in Camden Square with bouquets of flowers and cards, leaving candles and messages. Some admirers also paid tribute at the Hawley Arms pub in Camden, a favorite spot of the late singer.

In a statement posted on their website, the pub said: “We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of Amy’s death. Apart from her extraordinary musical talent, she was a special person with a good soul and this should not have happened. We feel privileged to have known her and we will sorely miss her.”

Stars also rallied to bid farewell to the soul diva who passed away after years of addiction to drugs and alcohol. Stars took to Facebook and Twitter to express their grief.

Mark Ronson, who had collaborated with Winehouse, topped the tributes paid by celebs on Twitter.

He wrote: “She was my musical soulmate and like a sister to me. This is one of the saddest days of my life.”

Kelly Osbourne, a close friend of the singer’s, tweeted: “I cant even breath right now im crying so hard i just lost 1 of my best friends. i love you forever Amy & will never forget the real you!”

Sarah Brown, the wife of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, wrote: “Just heard the sad news that Amy Winehouse has died. At only 27 what a terrible waste of a great talent. Sincere condolences to her family.”

Kate Moss tweeted: “RIP Amy Winehouse, So upset, my heart goes out to her, sad to see such talent vanish from the world.”

British singer Lily Allen wrote: “Its just beyond sad, there’s nothing else to say. She was such a lost soul, may she rest in peace.”

Actress Demi Moore reacted too: “Truly sad news about Amy Winehouse. My heart goes out to her family. May her troubled soul find peace.”

TV host Piers Morgan said on the website: “Such desperately sad news re Amy Winehouse. Supreme talent, terrible self-destructive addictive personality.”

Country singer LeAnn Rimes tweeted: “RIP Amy Winehouse. So sad to see such a talent gone and her life end in tragedy. This makes me terribly sad.”
