Conrad Murray won’t be defending himself in next week’s preliminary hearing

Next Tuesday, Dr. Conrad Murray’s preliminary hearing begins. He faces a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter in the 2009 death of Michael Jackson.

But according to TMZ, Murray’s lawyer, Ed Chernoff, won’t be playing an active role in the discussions. As the prosecution lays out its case, Chernoff will be looking for holes and inconsistencies.

There is no reason in allowing Murray’s lawyer to defend his client during the meeting as judges rarely dismiss charges after a preliminary hearing.

As we have previously reported, approximately 30 witnesses will be called in the preliminary hearing and prosecutors will to try to prove that Murray recklessly medicated Jackson with propofol on the day he died.
