David Cassidy was arrested on a DUI charge in Florida Wednesday night and spent nine hours in a county jail before paying a 350 dollar bail.
According to an arrest report obtained by People, Cassidy failed a field sobriety test and two breath tests after being pulled over around 8 p.m. for driving erratically in Fort Lauderdale.
The actor’s rep, Jo-Ann Geffen, Cassidy admits having taken a pain pill for his back earlier in the day and may have been tired from a funeral he had to attend. Cassidy insists he wasn’t drunk and he intends to fight the charges.
“He would never jeopardize anyone on the road and he would not have been driving had he not had to go to a funeral,” his rep says. “He’s never been arrested in his life before for anything.”
Cassidy is best known played Keith Partridge in the 1970s musical/sitcom “The Partridge Family”. He was one of the most celebrated teen idols of the ‘70s.
