The death of Gil Scott-Heron leaves the world of hip-hop orphan. The pioneer, poet and keen observer of American society died Friday at the age of 62. The musician, author of “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” in 1974, had faced drug problems for many years.
Via Twitter, American artists reflect the impact and influence that Gil Scott-Heron left on music.
Eminem wrote, “RIP Gil Scott-Heron. He influenced all of hip-hop.”
Cee Lo Green heard the news and wrote, “Rest in peace to the GOD”, while Snoop Dogg named him “1 of tha greats, gil scott heron.”
