Miley Cyrus is infuriated at her father’s GQ interview in which he criticizes Hannah Montana, the TV hit that made his daughter a superstar.
Given that, Miley reportedly went ballistic when she found out about Billy Ray’s scheduled appearance on The View and had him cancel it.
According to a family friend, the teen star “went nuts” on finding out her father’s intention to sit down with Barbara Walters.
“Only last week, Billy shot his mouth off in GQ, and now he planned to sit down and talk more crap about his family. No way would Miley or her team let that happen,” adds the friend.
Apparently, Miley has hung up on Billy Ray repeated times, and has told her people she doesn’t want to talk to him at this point.
“At first Miley defended her dad, wanting to believe he had been tricked into saying bad things by the magazine,” the insider tells Pop Eater. “Miley truly wanted to give her father the benefit of the doubt, goodness knows she’s said things she wishes she could take back. But after she found out about his media trip to New York, no more excuses could be made.”
Billy Ray was listed as a guest on the show but a recent press release listed Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski as the new guests, with no mention of Cyrus’ cancellation.
“Hannah Montana destroyed my family…the damn show destroyed my family,” he told GQ. “I’d take it back in a second. For my family to be here and just everybody be okay, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. Heck, yeah. I’d erase it all in a second if I could.”
