The King of Pop’s sister will be absent at the Michael Jackson tribute concert.
The concert will take place in the middle of the high profile trial involving Michael Jackson’s doctor, Dr Conrad Murray.
The idea of participating in the tribute concert while legal proceedings are in full swing makes Janet feel uncomfortable.
“Because of the trial, the timing of this tribute to our brother would be too difficult for me,” she said in a statement.
Until now, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Leona Lewis, Craig David and Smokey Robinson were announced as performers at the tribute. Beyoncé is also set to deliver a performance via satellite.
However, Jackson ‘s mother Katherine assured her support for the tribute concert in the memory of her son. Part of the profits earned by ticket sales will be donated to various charities.
Recently, several Michael Jackson fan clubs protested against the concert.
During her last European tour, Janet Jackson had a virtual duet with her brother on stage for their song Scream.
Opening statements in the trial of Conrad Murray are scheduled to begin September 27 and will continue for several weeks.
