Katy Perry equals Michael Jackson on #1 hits from the same album

Katy Perry has tied the record with Michael Jackson and became the first female artist to have five hits from the same album reach number 1 on U.S. charts.

Until this year, the only singer who achieved this feat was Michael Jackson with I Just Can’t Stop Loving You, Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Man In The Mirror and Dirty Diana from the 1987 album Bad.

Katy Perry managed the same performance with her album Teenage Dream by placing the following five singles on the number 1 spot in the US charts: California Gurls (featuring Snoop Dogg), Teenage Dream, Firework, AND (featuring Kanye West) and Last Friday Night (TGIF).

And while Jackson spent a total of seven weeks at the top, Perry stayed 18 weeks on the number 1 position with her singles.

Katy herself wrote about the news on Twitter: “What a way to wake up! SO proud to announce that the little-engine-that-could of a song ‘LAST FRIDAY NIGHT’ is officially #1 & made HISTORY!”
