Lady Gaga and Madonna proved to be distant cousins

Madonna and Lady Gaga are distant cousins, says Chris Child, an expert in the genealogy of Hollywood stars.

Since she took the pop scene by storm two years ago with her rhythmic songs and provocative stage costumes, Lady Gaga has always been compared to Madonna, often called the “Queen of Pop.”

The similarities between the two divas were considered to be so obvious that at one point Lady Gaga, 25, was even accused of plagiarizing one of Madonna’s famous songs, 52.

According to recent documents, presented by Chris Child, the two American artists are distant relatives, reports Daily Mail.

“They are ninth cousins once removed,” says Chris Child, an expert in the New England Historic Genealogical Society.

After thorough research, Chris Child presented to the American press a series of evidence in support of his discovery, arguing that the two singers share a common ancestor farming family who left France and settled in the province of Quebec from Canada in the 1600s .

“When I saw that Lady Gaga had French Canadian ancestry, I thought there might be something there,” explained Chris Child.

The specialist tracked the French Canadian families “back 200 years within minutes.” Quebec priests recorded all marriages celebrated in the province between 1600 and 1900.

Lady GaGa, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, didn’t avoid comparing herself to Madonna in the past.

“‘We’re both Italian-American women, we both started out in the New York underground scene – and we both became famous when we dyed our hair blonde,” Gaga once said. “I think what Madonna and I share is that we’re both fearless, we both have a lot of nerve.”

For her part, Madonna has made no secret of the fact that she is a fan of Lady Gaga and could be seen in public at a concert of hers with her daughter Loudes in New York in 2009.

Lady Gaga and Madonna appeared together in an episode of “Saturday Night Live” in October 2009 where they acted a mock fighting skit before kissing and making up in front of viewers.
