The new song by Lady Gaga, “Born This Way”, spilled much ink since its release on Friday as many people accused the singer of plagiarism, arguing that the piece is similar in many ways to Express Yourself by Madonna, released in 1989.

In an interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno broadcast Monday night, Lady Gaga defended herself by explaining that she had great respect and admiration for Madonna.

“There is really no one that is a more adoring and loving Madonna fan than me. I am the hugest fan personally and professionally,” she told Leno.

The singer, who won three awards at the Grammys on Sunday, added that Madonna had personally congratulated her for the new song, thus putting an end to rumors that the two stars are at odds.

“Well, the good news is that I got an e-mail from her people, and her sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single, and if the queen says it shall be, then it shall be,” Gaga said.

Also during the show, Lady Gaga announced that the American television network HBO will soon shoot her show Monster Ball so that it is presented in its entirety to subscribers of the channel.

The president of the network, Sue Naegle, confirmed the news Tuesday morning, indicating that the concert will be picked up during the performances of the show at Madison Square Garden in New York on 21 and 22 February.

Lady Gaga Presents the Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden will be broadcast on premiere on HBO May 7, two weeks before the release of the next installment by Lady Gaga.
