Lady Gaga was an early winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Belfast on Sunday, picking up the prize for best female artist.

Gaga took the stage in a big fashion style outfit. The singer had her face covered by her head-wear.

“I’m really smiling right now — I know you can’t tell; I’ve had a lot of Botox,” she said.

Her head was covered in a large circular piece that obstructed her view so that she actually had to push the microphone under the costume to be heard. It was through a small hole that she could see.

The 25-year-old also went away with the awards for best pop act and best song for Bad Romance, but also the “biggest fan” award, thanks to her devoted “little monsters.”

Selena Gomez hosted the event. She was accompanied in Belfast by boyfriend Justin Bieber who is now in the middle of a scandal in which he is accused of fathering a love child.

The first performance of the night was offered by Coldplay with “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” from their new album “Mylo Xyloto.”

Katy Perry then received the first EMA for best live act.

Then LMFAO offered a “snowy” performance of the high octane disco hit Party Rock Anthem.

Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor came on stage to accept the Global Icon prize.

Linkin Park were named best rock group and Bruno Mars won the best push award.

Thirty Seconds to Mars went away with the prize for best alternative act and best world stage, while Eminem won the hip hop category.
