Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley are celebrated each year by fans around the world and media. This year Google, Lotus, tribute concerts and others have celebrated the three legends.
2011 marked 20 years since Freddie’s passing.
In memory of the anniversary, the Mercury Phoenix Trust has launched a unique initiative called The Global Charity Network. The charity will continue to fight AIDS worldwide in honor of the artist.
In addition, this year marked what would have been Freddie’s 65th birthday. In his memory, Lotus has created a special edition of the Evora S model as a tribute to the lead singer of Queen. The car was customized in the spirit of the costumes worn by Freddie on stage.
Google also celebrated his 65th birthday with a cartoon video doodle set to Queen’s hit Don’t Stop Me Now.
The show “The Immortal Michael Jackson World Tour” by Cirque du Soleil premiered at the Bell Center in October 2011.
After performing shows inspired by the music of Elvis Presley and The Beatles, Cirque du Soleil has prepared a show about the life and music of Michael Jackson.
Unlike the previous two shows, which were held in Las Vegas, the show called “The Immortal Michael Jackson World Tour” is designed to tour.
The stage is centered around a tree, called The Giving Tree, which represented one of the great oaks of Neverland, an inspiration for the King of Pop.
Also, tens of thousands of fans attended the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert in October to honor the legacy of the late King of Pop.
A deluxe five-disc Elvis 1956 package, titled Young Man with the Beat: The Complete ’56 Elvis Presley Masters, was released September 27.
The disc box set contains interviews and live and studio recordings of 21-year-old Elvis, as well as his phenomenal influence on American culture.
In addition, Riley Keough, Elvis’ granddaughter, is honoring his legacy in a new campaign for Lee Jeans. Immortalized by the photographer Terry Richardson, the 21-year-old tilted the collar of her jacket in the same way as her unforgettable grandfather during his concerts in the 1950s.
