Lady Gaga has surprised her fans on Friday afternoon by releasing her song “Judas” ahead of schedule.
“Judas” is the second single from her album “Born This Way,” whose release is scheduled for May 23.
In a video posted on her Twitter page earlier this month, the pop star promised subscribers that Judas would be launched on April 19. But as the song leaked online on Friday, the singer tried to get ahead of it and released it four days earlier.
Judas is a coproduction of Redon, the man behind the success of a dozen songs from Lady Gaga, including Just Dance, Poker Face, Alejandro and Bad Romance.
In addition to Judas, RedOne co-produced two other titles that appear on Gaga’s next album: Hair and Scheiße.
The music video of “Judas” was shot in Los Angeles earlier this month and is expected to be launched in the coming weeks. Lady Gaga debuted as a director for the occasion. She was assisted by choreographer Lauriann Gibson, who was in charge of the dancing in most of her previous videos.
According to several sources, Lady Gaga will embody the biblical figure of Mary Magdalene in the video, which will undoubtedly cause a lot of controversy.
