Madonna’s older brother Anthony Ciccone forced to live in the streets
Madonna’s humanitarian actions, through works of charity in her country or in Malawi , might soon lose their luster because the singer appears to be indifferent to her brother’s fate.
His name is Anthony, he is 55 years old and he’s the older brother of the Queen of Pop. And if Madonna leads an idyllic life, this isn’t the case for her sibling.
After losing his job at his father’s vineyards in Sutton Bay , Anthony has been living under a bridge in Traverse City , Michigan.
“My family turned their back on me, basically, when I was having a hard time,” he told local newspaper The Michigan Messenger.
Very affected by the cold, he has already suffered from frostbite and many homeless friends of his died last year from hypothermia.
“You think I haven’t answered this kind of question a bazillion times – why my sister is a multibazillionarie, and I’m homeless on the street?” he added. “Never say never. This could happen to anybody.”
“I don’t have any income,” he said. “I’ve got to go collect bottles and cans, do odd jobs.”
According to him, the efforts of the municipality to assist the homeless are not sufficient.
Anthony revealed that he huddles in the lobby at the local jail or hypermarket to stay warm and often relies on free meals at churches.
