Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s personal physician, pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter. “I am an innocent man,” he told the judge Tuesday in a Los Angeles court.
“Your Honor, I am an innocent man. I therefore plead not guilty,” Murray said when the magistrate asked him for his plea to the charges against him.
Earlier in January, Judge Michael Pastor had determined there was enough evidence against Murray to require a trial. Murray has recently been the subject of a preliminary investigation.
Murray’s trial for manslaughter is due to start March 28. By that date, another court hearing is scheduled for February 7.
If convicted, the doctor may serve a maximum sentence of 4 years in jail.
