Mitch and Janis Winehouse give emotional interview about Amy
Amy Winehouse’s parents gave the first interview since the singer’s death, in which they talked about the charity foundation set up in her memory.
At a taping of the CNN show hosted by journalist Anderson Cooper, Mitch and Janis Winehouse gave an emotional interview about their daughter.
Mitch said that he thinks his daughter died after suffering a seizure related to alcohol detoxification.
“The periods of abstinence were becoming longer, and the periods of drinking were becoming shorter. It was heading in the right direction,” he said.
Mitch also spoke about the foundation that he founded after the death of his daughter.
During the interview, Mitch found it hard to hold back tears and was consoled by his former wife, Janis.
He also confided that he believed Amy’s spirit was present at her funeral, as a black butterfly sat on the shoulders of his daughter’s friend, Kelly Osbourne. Mitch is convinced that it was a sign from Amy that she was at peace.
