“starve” is a word that shocked Riri’s followers. Her fans were quick to send tweets with indignation: “@rihanna starve?? why?? thats a bad message to your fans ri-ri im disappointed,” one of her followers tweeted.

In a message on Twitter, Rihanna admitted that she starved to appear thin for a photo shoot, making her fans angry.

A few hours after a photo shoot for Esquire magazine, the singer revealed on her Twitter account how she had prepared: “#RihannaNavy I shot my first cover for Esquire yesterday with Russell James #rockstars*** Not much preparation for that besides wax+starve!!”

Another said: “@rihanna how long did you starve??? That #rockstars*** doesn’t seem fun!!”

However, Rihanna seemed to completely ignore them as she later wrote: “British Vogue here I come….#ontothenextone.”

This isn’t the first time Rihanna has to defend herself. Recently, the 23-year-old singer was criticized by the Parents Television Council for her music video “Man Down.”

The clip shows Rihanna being raped and her later shooting her aggressor.
