Rod Stewart, 66, is a father for the eighth time.
His wife, photographer and model Penny Lancaster Stewart, gave birth Wednesday to a boy named Aiden, weighing 7lbs, 12oz.
“Mother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy,” a spokesman for the couple told People magazine, on Thursday.
This is a second son for the couple who got married during a private ceremony on June 16 2007, aboard a yacht docked at the port of Portofino, Italy.
Their oldest son, Alastair Wallace, 5, was born in London, 27 November 2005.
“We were thrilled and delighted to be able to tell Alastair that he was going to be the big brother to a little baby, expected just before Mummy’s 40th birthday,” the couple said in a statement.
Penny Lancaster Stewart turns 40 on March 15.
Rod Stewart has six other children from previous relationships. His first daughter, Sarah Streeter, now aged 46, has been adopted by a British couple at birth because her father, who was then an unknown figure in the music industry, didn’t have the financial means to support her.
Rod Stewart will have to enjoy the coming weeks with the baby, since he will begin a joint tour with singer Stevie Nicks on March 20 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
