Second marriage in view for Shania Twain

The country star’s rep made the announcement to Us Weekly magazine on Monday afternoon, just days after his client had been photographed in a restaurant in New York wearing an engagement ring set with a three carat diamond.

“I’ve never seen Shania so happy,” revealed a friend of the star for the magazine, stating that Frederick Thiebaud, who works for the Nestle company, popped the question in Switzerland last October.

Frédéric Thiebaud, 40, was the husband of Marie-Anne Thiebaud, the former best friend of Shania Twain. Ms. Thiebaud had in turn been the mistress of Twain’s first husband, record producer Robert Lange.

Shania Twain and Robert Lange have ended their relationship in May 2008 after 14 years of marriage. They are the parents of a 9-year-old boy named Eja.

A few months later, the singer was spotted in the company of Frédéric Thiebaud during her stays in Canada, New York and Florida.

In August 2009, the Canadian star finally confirmed the rumor that she was in a relationship with Thiebaud.

“He is a dear friend and true gentleman…We leaned on one another through the ups and downs, taking turns holding each other up. We’ve become stronger and closer through it all,” Shania wrote on her official website.

Last September, the singer announced that she will release her autobiography next spring. She explained to People the reasons which led her to write her memoirs.

“There have been moments in my life I was concerned by the reality that tomorrow would never come,” she said in a statement.

“Recently I experienced one of those moments to an intensity that brought on a sudden urgency to document my life before I ran out of time, before I had the opportunity to share an honest and complete account of my life, in my own words.”
