Sinead O’Connor explains what ended her 16-day marriage
The Nothing Compares 2 U singer opened up about the demise of her fourth marriage.
O’Connor told The Sun said she still loved Barry Herridge, 38, but compared the brief union to “living in a coffin”.
She said: “It felt like I was living in a coffin. It was going to be a coffin for both of us and I saw him crushed. The whole reason I ended it was out of respect and love for the man.”
Although she initially claimed that the marriage was sabotaged by the “interference of certain people” in her husband’s life, the 45-year-old Irish singer also admitted that her frantic quest for marijuana on her wedding night was what “frightened” Herridge, who is an addiction counselor for children.

“We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous,” Sinead told the newspaper. “I wasn’t scared – but he’s a drugs counselor. What was I thinking?”
She added: “Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened – that kind of messed everything up a bit, really.”
Sinead revealed she will never marry again, adding: “I don’t think I will even date anyone.”
