Willow Smith explains “Whip My Hair” on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”

Willow Smith explained the meaning of her song “Whip My Hair” in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres as part of the latter’s show.

Willow said she almost panicked before performing the song. “I was really nervous.”

When asked about the deeper meaning of the single, Smith replied that what it signifies is “I’m me, I’m doing what I want to do.”

The 10-year old singer admitted that at some point she was doing what she wanted to do perhaps a bit too strenuously, and hurt her neck. In response, Ellen gave her a jeweled neck brace with photos of Ellen on it to help protect her.
