Like any groom, Prince William much anticipates the day meant to be the finest of his life. As he prepares to marry his fiancée in front of 1,900 guests and millions of viewers, the prince confesses: he can’t even sleep!
Interviewed at the Royal Air Force base in North Wales, where he is a rescue helicopter pilot, Prince William says he has been losing sleep thinking about his marriage to Kate Middleton.
So when asked what keeps him awake, he replied simply: “The whole thing!”
And the prince revealed: “I was telling everyone I did the rehearsal the other day and my knees started tapping quite nervously.”
William and Kate will exchange vows on April 29, before nearly 2,000 guests and millions of viewers worldwide.
“It’s quite a daunting prospect. but very exciting, and I’m thoroughly looking forward to it but there’s still a lot of planning to be done in the last four weeks,” the prince admits.
The prince also spoke of his bachelor party, organized last weekend by his younger brother Harry. He says he was happy to have spent his last days as a single man with his best friends, and is delighted to have managed to keep the location of the event secret.
“It’s quite good news always to outfox the media, but it was a military operation and my brother and I are very proud of how it went,” the 28-year-old told the BBC.
William’s brother Harry, who will be best man at the wedding, has revealed he will deliver the traditional best man’s speech and plans to raise a few laughs.
“It will be pretty standard, hopefully. Just the same as any other best-man speech,” Harry told the BBC. “It’s me and a couple of his friends, so between the three of us, we’ll make sure that we dig him in the ribs a few times and embarrass him. Make him lose some hair.”
Harry also reveals his brother preferred an intimate ceremony with just the couple’s closest friends and family present, but understands he has a duty.
“It is quite a big affair. I think if [William] had his way, he would love to have a small wedding with just his really close friends. But, you know, we are who we are, and the position comes with it, and the role comes with it,” he added. “It’ll be a mad rush, like everything is, you know? I’m looking forward to getting back and putting on a uniform and strolling down the aisle with him.”
