Rupert Murdoch: Attacked by protester at Parliament!

During a hearing at the Parliament today, a protester tried to attack Rupert Murdoch with a plate of some kind of cream.

The hearing at Parliament was suspended abruptly on Tuesday afternoon because of the attack.

A witness said that the assailant headed towards Murdoch with a green bag in his hand.

Fortunately, he was blocked by Murdoch’s wife, Wendi Deng, who jumped to protect him. The magnate’s son, James Murdoch, also tried to intervene.

The hearing was resumed after a few minutes and Murdoch appeared without his dark blue suit jacket.

According to news reports, the man arrested was a humorist who called Murdoch a “greedy billionaire.”

Rupert and James Murdoch appeared before a House of Select Committee of British Parliament to face questions about the phone hacking scandal at News of the World.

At one point, when asked whether a celebrity today could have any sense of privacy, Murdoch gave a firm answer: “No.” He also said he wouldn’t resign from his position as CEO of his company as he considers himself the best man for that job.

The scandal broke out when it was alleged that his newspaper had hacked the voicemail of a kidnapped 13-year old schoolgirl. As a result, nine people were arrested following accusations of phone hacking and paying police for information.

The magnate also denied allegations that the relatives of the 9/11 victims had been hacked.

Murdoch called Tuesday’s session “the most humble day of my life.”

The Murdoch family owns the Fox News Network, Fox TV, the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal in the U.S.
