Prince William and his wife Catherine attended their first official engagement, a charity gala held in the gardens of Kensington Palace in London on Thursday night.
The Duchess of Cambridge, who wore a pale pink evening gown designed by Jenny Packham, and her husband, Prince William, were guests of honor at the charity gala organized by tycoon Arpad Busson for the benefit of the ARK Foundation that supports children from around the world.
Welcomed by Arpad Busson, the newlyweds joined the group of celebrities, among whom were artists Tracey Emin, Anish Kapoor and actor Kevin Spacey. The guests had paid each 10,000 pounds (16,000 dollars) to attend the event in central London.
William, who wore a black suit and a bow tie, and Catherine attended the gala on behalf of the charity that the prince and his younger brother, Prince Harry, support.
