Rosie O’Donnell says she was uncomfortable announcing engagement
The comedienne has revealed that she and girlfriend Michelle Rounds actually got engaged several months ago.
Apparently, the reason why she kept her engagement secret for months was because she felt uncomfortable announcing the happy news.
“Michelle said to me a few months ago, when we got engaged, she said, ‘How come you didn’t say it on your show?’ And I was like, ‘Honey, I don’t know how.’ I didn’t know how to say it,” O’Donnell, 50, said Tuesday on OWN’s The Rosie Show.
“You don’t want to become one of those celebrities that talks about their relationship ad nauseum and makes it into a fairy tale thing. And then they go and have an affair with somebody. I don’t want to say any names,” she quipped.
O’Donnell, 49, broke the news during a break in taping The Rosie Show on Monday telling them the pair will be getting married some time around Christmas. Then an audience member posted her announcement on Twitter.
Rosie O’Donnell and Michelle Rounds, a 28-year-old New York City headhunter, met while waiting in line at a Starbucks and have been dating since the beginning of the year.
The comedienne was previously married to Kelli Carpenter and has four children.
