Stars resuscitated on social networks

After having proclaimed their “digital death” by their temporary withdrawal from social networks, they made their return to life on Monday. The reason? Help their friend Alicia Keys raise one million dollars for her foundation that helps people with AIDS.

The idea was simple: the celebrities had to stop using Twitter and Facebook until their fans gathered enough money to get them “back to life.” They had to send a text message to Alicia’s foundation, Keep a Child Alive.

Alicia Keys and Leigh Blake – president and co-founder of Keep a Child Alive- announced on Monday that they had reached their objective through public donations and the financial contribution from billionaire philanthropist Stewart Rahr, who provided the equivalent of the money raised by fans of the stars involved, or $ 500 000.

“So stoked to be back on twitter! Special shout out to Stewie Rah Rah for his generous donation,” Seacrest tweeted.

“I’m back from the dead! Thank you all so much for your donations and contributions! I have missed u all so much!!!,” Kardashian posted on Twitter.

Keep a Child Alive said, “although we never expected to raise $1 million overnight, we are completely blown away that we were able to achieve our goal in less than a week.” The group said more than 3,600 people contributed.

Khloe Kardashian, Lenny Kravitz, Swizz Beatz, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson and Jay Sean also participated in the movement.
