Singer Wyclef Jean recently announced he will not run for Haiti presidency just one month after his candidacy was officially rejected.

Wyclef declared: “After weeks of quiet but painstaking reflection with my wife and daughter, I have chosen to end my bid for the presidency of Haiti.”
“This was not an easy conclusion to reach; but it is one that was thoughtfully made,” Jean added.

Moreover, since he won’t candidate for Haiti, he will focus his energy in writing and singing, especially because he plans to release a new album in 2011, “If I were President, the Haitian Experience.”

As we previously reported, the singer wasn’t allowed to candidate because he did no lived five consecutive years in the country before running.
Not to mention that Wyclef received numerous critics after his candidacy was made public due to the lack of political experience.

“Though my run for the presidency was cut short, I feel it was not in vain,” Jean said.
