The two companies are reportedly working on a smart watch which will allow the user to connect to the iPhone, iPad or iPod.

According to the Chinese site TGBus Via Mobile Geeks, Apple and Intel are building a watch that can connect to the iPhone via Bluetooth 4.0.

This device will incorporate a 1.5-inch OLED display, protected with an ITO (indium tin oxide) capacitive touchscreen, a component provided by Ritek, a Chinese OLED display manufacturer.

The smart watch may also benefit from Siri integration.

The launch of the device is expected for the first half of next year.

A similar product was Pebble, an e-ink smartwatch compatible with iOS and Android that was a Kickstarter project.
