Apple board members discuss Steve Jobs’ succession as CEO

Apple is forced to think of life after Steve Jobs since the CEO is on an indefinite leave for health reasons.

According to the Wall Street Journal, some members of the board of directors at Apple are considering the options available for the company in case Steve Jobs leaves for good.

Since Apple’s founder Steve Jobs announced in January he was taking an indefinite leave for medical reasons, several members of the board have raised the question of his succession.

The Wall Street Journal claims the members have spoken with at least one “head of a high-profile technology company.”

However, discussions about replacing the current CEO of Apple were rather informal, the newspaper writes, and in some cases they appeared as responses to requests from headhunters. The board members were rather considering the options.

According to a source close to some board members, there is a strong possibility that Tim Cook might take over after Steve Jobs leaves.

Jobs has maintained his leadership and remained involved in strategic decisions in the company. He has appeared on stage in early March for the launch of the iPad 2 and later in June at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC).
