The Cupertino company is rumored to start using Sharp’s new IGZO technology for future devices.
Sharp highlighted its IGZO display technology at CES 2013, AppleInsider reports.
Analyst Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets, who attended the event, praised the IGZO technology.
“Even after turning off the power of a device, IGZO allows the image to continue to be displayed on the screen,” White said.
He believes Apple is a “prime candidate” to adopt IGZO technology in its future devices.
Apple has long had an interest in Sharp’s IGZO display technology, AppleInsider writes.
In December, it was speculated that Apple was evaluating IGZO display technology for its next iPhones and iPads.
