Apple officially released its “next-generation MacBook Pro,” described by Phil Schiller as a “breakthrough in engineering.”

The 15.4 inch model has a resolution of 2880 x 1800 with 220ppi, the highest ever implemented in a laptop.

The new Mac, which is now as thin as a MacBook Air, comes equipped with Retina Display and has four times more pixels than the screen of the current model.

In order to build such a thin casing, Apple had to redesign the cooling system of the MacBook Pro.

The MacBook is powered by quad-core Ivy Bridge processors of up to 2.7GHz, up to 16GB 1600MHz RAM and a storage capacity of up to 768GB.

The new MacBook also features a FaceTime HD camera, two microphones, backlit keyboard, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 3.0.

According to Apple, the product offers up to 7 hours battery life with 30 days standby time.

Prices start at $ 2199.
